100s Day of First Grade!
We had such a fun filled day.
We started our day with, "Miss Bindergarten and the First 100 Days of Kindergarten." Then, we started our crowns of course...how could we celebrate hundred's day with our crowns??Following that, we counted out 100 of our items, and started to glue them on to cardstock in groups of ten. THEN, we made cereal necklaces, counting to 100.   But this time, we were ready for a break and went outside for our hundreds day Olympics, where we skipped by fives to 100 hundred, did side bends, jumping jacks, pushups and arm circles to 100 counting by 2's, 5's and tens. They loved every second and were awarded with their own gold medal. It was a fun filled day, and here are a few snapshots:
Students brought in their own collection of 100 things. Some students didn't bring them in..so I had dyed macaroni ready to go.
Adding 100 toppings to pizza!

Moon Sand

So in our Journeys curriculum, we just finished our "moon unit." To top it off we made moon sand today, I got the idea from Miss Snowden's first grade blog We had a fun time! To make the moon sand, I used about 4 cups of water, to 1 cup of cornflour and just added water until it got to the right consistency.

They used marbles, corn kernals, toothpicks and pieces of paper to make craters in the moon. They loved every minute! I love Fridays in first grade :-)

Cost:
Play Sand: $3.47 at Home Depot
2 boxes cornflour: $1.19 each at Kroger.
