Loving every minute. ( Well most of them..)

I keep forgetting to keep updated. I mostly do it for myself. I like to look back at my posts to be reminded of the steps I've taken along the way. School has been in for over 2 months now, and I can honestly say that I am enjoying this school year more each day. I wonder..is it a bad thing if I miss my students over the weekend?

Teaching English language learners is certainly a challenge, and you do need to tweak your teaching styles. However, once you get in the rhythym, it becomes second nature.

Last week, a sweet girl from Honduras who always comes in and gives me a big hug each morning brought me in a drawing that she made of her home flag. She was tickled pink when I hung it up in the room for the whole class to see. It is little moments like these that make my heart smile.

I've posted a couple of pictures from one of our "tens and ones" lesson from last week. I try to incorporate "snack math" about once a month. We use an edible snack as the math manipulative for a lesson. The kids love it, and they usually don't even realize that they are learning because they are having so much fun. Last week we used pretzel rods at the tens and cereal as the ones.

In a time when so many Americans are out of jobs, and there is so much negativity everywhere, it certainly feels good to know that you are in the right profession, and that I am truly blessed to love my job.
